About the Department

General Statement of Duties


The Administrative Assistant classification supports the operations and growth of the Renaissance Centre’s arts education programs by overseeing classes, managing student registration, coordinating instructors, and maintaining program information in software systems.   This role ensures smooth, efficient delivery of high-quality educational experiences for participants of all ages and abilities.


The Arts Education Assistant reports to the Centre Programs Manager or designated supervisor and works collaboratively with other staff to ensure program success.  The position may work at multiple sites in Wake Forest, including but not limited to, the Renaissance Centre, the Center for Active Aging, and the Alston Massenburg Center.


This classification must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends.

Position Duties

Essential Duties and Tasks across all agencies

  • Class oversight and administration:
    • Monitor ongoing classes to ensure smooth operations and positive learning experiences.
    • Serve as a point of contact for instructors and students regarding class logistics.
    • Track attendance, manage class materials, and communicate any changes to participants.
  • Instructor Coordination:
    • Support instructors with classroom needs and program expectations.
  • Student Registration Support:
    • Assist students with registration for classes, workshops, and programs.
    • Provide customer service regarding program inquires, schedules, and enrollment procedures.
    • Maintain accurate student records and ensure timely communication of program updates.
  • Program Data Management:
    • Input new programs, classes, and events into the center’s software systems.
    • Update program information, pricing, and scheduling as needed.
    • Generate reports on program participation, enrollment trends, and other relevant metrics.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in arts education, program administration, or related fields preferred.
  • Familiarity with databases/software systems for registration and program management is a plus.
