The Pathologist is responsible for independent evaluation, diagnosis and sign out of surgical specimens.  The Pathologist addresses all issues related to tissue diagnosis, autopsy, cytology, peripheral blood and bone marrows using histopathologic, immunohistochemical, molecular, morphometric, ultrastructural, flow cytometric and other techniques as appropriate.  Organizes, supports and assigns staff/residents to support teaching activities.  Participates in teaching Pathology and Laboratory Medicine courses and clerkships offered to medical students at Brown University and/or residents.  Develops and maintains an independent research program in the general area of anatomic pathology or subspecialty.

The Pathologist should refer to letter of job offer regarding additional individual duties and responsibilities along with any faculty appointment and any applicable administrative function or title.

 

 


Board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology, with subspecialty certification in Chemical Pathology, or equivalent experience and credentials.

Qualified to serve as a Clinical Provider in Rhode Island, with certification or other appropriate qualification for subspecialty area.
