The salary for this position is: $4,669.00-$6,210.00 month.
Thurston County Treasurer's Office is seeking a professional, motivated, and dependable candidate for the position of Accounting Assistant III. We are looking for someone who excels at customer services and is excellent with details, balancing, and reconciling. We are a small but vitally important office within the county.
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitor the accounting group mailbox.
- Receive and post deposit transmittals daily for all our special purpose districts.
- Post journal entries for accounting transactions and uploading journals from our sub systems.
- Customer service on phone for helping during tax time taking payments
- Backup other accounting staff with warrants files, reconciliation, redemptions, as well as disbursements and payments.
- Order office supplies for the office.
- Processing electronic and/or mail payments during tax time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work Environment – Work is performed indoors and in an office environment.
- Schedule – This job is scheduled for 8 hours a day. Our office is open to the public 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but staff office hours could be within 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
- Travel Requirements - Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or trainings.
- Customer Interactions - Daily interactions via phone, in-person, and Teams video with Thurston County staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED and two years of college level accounting courses. Additional experience may substitute for college level courses on a year-for-year basis.
- Two years of general accounting experience.
- Typing and 10-key adding machine skills may be required for specified positions.
- Ability to use word processing and computer equipment and programs may be required for specified positions.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the double-entry bookkeeping and governmental accounting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of the BARS governmental accounting system.
- Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of basic data processing systems and input methods.
- Ability to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to organize and prioritize accounting projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to direct the work of other employees.
