Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is 4 days a week onsite in our Andover, MA facility.
The Tax & Treasury Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the company's global corporate income tax compliance calendar, transfer pricing policies, non-income tax reporting and compliance including sales and use tax, property tax, European VAT and other indirect taxes with support from external advisors. This role will also support USGAAP external reporting for all required tax disclosures of a publicly traded company.
In addition to corporate tax responsibilities, the Tax & Treasury Manager will work closely with the Company’s insurance brokers to ensure adequate insurance coverage is in place for all aspects of the business. Additionally, this role will partner with other areas of Finance and the business teams to ensure the objectives of the Tax and Treasury functions are aligned with the Finance team and business as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Tax Compliance & Reporting:
- Manage the Company’s global income tax compliance calender and liase with external advisors to define target deliverable and filing due dates.
- Work with external advisors on the quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations and disclosures while meeting both internal and external timelines.
- Monitor changes to tax legislation in jurisdictions in which the Company operates to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure state and local sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and other non-income tax filings are filed timely and accurately.
- Perform and document procedures for internal controls to comply with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements.
- Tax Audit Support:
- Manage and coordinate responses to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, as needed.
- Gather documents from cross-functional finance members and prepare documentation to support tax positions during audits.
- Collaborate with external advisors and legal counsel on complex tax issues and consolidate feedback into streamlined and easy to understand language for non-tax colleagues.
- Process Improvements:
- Develop and maintain tax compliance calendars and create a recurring list of data requests to expedite the departments response to external advisor request lists.
- Identify and implement tax and treasury process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of each function.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in tax compliance.
- Internal Collaboration:
- Provide tax guidance and support to various departments, including finance, procurement, and operations.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure proper tax reporting and account reconciliation.
- Assist in the preparation of tax-related disclosures for the Company’s quarterly financial statements.
- Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned/required.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position will not have management responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years of public accounting experience in the tax space or equivalent experience at a publicly traded Company.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities and push for answers to complex problems.
- Understanding of ASC 740 and other US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for a publicly traded company.
- Experience in data analytics and understanding of available tools to automate report writing.
- Experience overseeing multiple projects with outside resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SAP and/or Oracle experience preferred
- Strong sense of commitment to meeting deadlines and managing multiple workstreams at the same time.
