We are searching for an experienced, full time, Director of Human Resources to join our dynamic team at DDRC, a nonprofit organization in Lakewood, Colorado. Your role as a Director of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading strategic initiatives in human capital and workforce planning aligned with the organization's mission and strategic goals. This role oversees and directly supervises the Human Resources team and manages key functions including recruitment and retention, training and development, payroll and benefits administration, compensation planning, and employee relations for the organization. The Director of Human Resources develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and best practices for workforce recruitment, development and retention. Responsibilities include oversight of HRIS systems and data security, personnel budget tracking, payroll and benefits administration, leave policies, onboarding, performance management, staff and leadership development, retirement plan education and administration, OSHA compliance, safety and recognition initiatives, and establishment of policies and procedures related to all aspects of Human Resources that ensure regulatory and legal compliance and promote a culture of excellence.

Requirements for this Director of Human Resources job

To succeed as the Director of Human Resources at the DDRC, candidates must possess a BA or BS in human resources, business management, or a related field, with a master's degree in human resources, organization development or related field preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in human resources is essential, alongside at least two years of progressively advancing management or leadership experience at a senior level. SHRM and/or HRCI certification strongly preferred. Experience in non-profit human service environment a plus.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of federal and state employment law and proficiency with HRIS, Payroll systems and data management tools. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills are essential to guide teams, foster employee relations, successfully influence change management, and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory compliance while supporting a customer-centric culture.
