Position Summary
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, a Lead serves as a working leader who performs duties similar to those of their coworkers while also providing direction, instruction, and guidance to the team. In addition, the Lead assists the supervisor in carrying out designated supervisory responsibilities. The Lead role is an extension of the employee’s regular position, and Lead duties are performed in addition to their standard job responsibilities.
Essential Functions
- May enforce work rules and procedures as directed by the supervisor.
- May assist in developing or revising work rules and procedures.
- Trains new and current employees within the same job category.
- Evaluates day-to-day work performance, providing feedback, coaching, and recognition;
- May provide input on formal performance evaluations for employees under their lead direction.
- May assign job tasks and responsibilities to employees within the job category.
- May adjust daily work schedules as needed to meet departmental needs.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with team members to ensure exceptional customer service and high customer satisfaction.
- May provide input on development plans, disciplinary actions, and other administrative matters; however, the authority to implement such actions rests with the supervisor.
- Product knowledge with respect to finishes, paint, drywall, carpet, tile, LVT, granite, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, door hardware, and kitchen appliances.
- Assist in the scheduling, tracking vendor/subcontractors of multiple projects.
- Knowledge of various residential contracts and terms with respect to standards and personalization (I.E. Change orders).
- Basic knowledge in regards to rough construction through completion of project (framing, window/door installations, electrical, plumbing, cabinet installation etc.)
- This position requires the ability to work flexibly and deal constructively with unanticipated/variable situations.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to direct and lay out jobs and task for workers.
- Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor, and outside contractors.
- Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs. (Quality Control)
- Regularly inspect to audit the quality of workmanship and materials. (Quality Control)

Skills and Abilities
Education: High school diploma or GED, plus three years of progressively responsible experience in construction, preferably in residential settings; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
Experience: Minimum of three years related experience in construction as a Lead.
Computer Skills: Proficient in the use of a computer and programs including MS applications, email, calendars, and research using internet resources.
Certificates & Licenses: Must possess a current Arizona Drivers License with a clean driving record.
Other Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, tolerance for some heights such as walking on roof structures, and ability to drive golf cart and/or company vehicles. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Knowledge of OSHA regulation relating to Facilities and Grounds. Must possess a valid driver’s license. In depth understanding of local, state and federal construction laws, codes, and regulations.
