The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for delivering coordinated nursing care to patients within the Behavioral Health Unit. This position supervises and directs the activities of assigned nursing personnel using professional and supervisory discretion, and administers the medical, psychiatric, and nursing plan of care. This role utilizes nursing skills of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient care delivery.

Maintains a safe patient care environment, including the use of restraints and fall risk precautions.
Responds to and participates in unit and hospital code situations, treating patients according to protocols.
Assists physicians with bedside procedures and performs therapeutic measures as prescribed.
Supervises and guides licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel in delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care.
Evaluates and communicates patient responses to care plans and interventions to appropriate team members.
Other duties as assigned.
Monitors patient lab work for trends, reports abnormal results, and obtains appropriate interventions.
Develops, prioritizes, and documents individualized care plans involving patients, families, and significant others.
Performs and documents accurate initial and ongoing patient assessments, including physical and mental status, and reports findings to the responsible physician.
Administers medications and treatments accurately and appropriately, including IV infusions and oxygen supplementation.
Provides patient and family education on care plans, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions, documenting the education provided and patient responses.
Participates in orientation and training of co-workers, students and new employees
Supervises and delegates care given by members of the health care team
The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's Preferred
Work Experience Required
- Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
- Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs.
- Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills).
- Prior hospital/Behavioral Health nursing experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Required
