Why You’ll Love This Opportunity

This is more than a supervisory role—it’s an opportunity to help shape the future of community safety in our city. As the Behavioral Health Team Supervisor, you’ll lead a compassionate, interdisciplinary team that bridges mental health care and public safety. Your leadership will help ensure residents in crisis receive the right care at the right time, strengthening our city’s commitment to public safety, resiliency, and equity.

You’ll work in a people-centered environment where innovation, collaboration, and data-informed practices are valued. This is a chance to be part of a city that’s becoming the most desirable mid-sized community—where we’re building safe neighborhoods, equitable opportunities, and sustainable solutions for all.

About the Role

The Behavioral Health Team Supervisor provides clinical and operational oversight for the Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT). This team plays a vital role in the city’s Office of Community Safety, working closely with first responders, hospitals, and social service partners to respond effectively to behavioral health crises and reduce over-reliance on emergency systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Supervise and support BHRT staff, ensuring trauma-informed, person-centered service delivery.

  • Review and analyze team data to guide quality improvement and evaluate program effectiveness.

  • Audit documentation and ensure compliance with clinical standards.

  • Collaborate with police, emergency services, and community partners to coordinate crisis response.

  • Provide internal and external trainings on crisis response, de-escalation, and behavioral health topics.

  • Represent the department in community meetings and strengthen partnerships with hospitals, social service agencies, and civic organizations.

  • Contribute to the development of innovative community safety and wellness programming.

This position may occasionally assist with emergency response calls and case management for individuals who are frequent users of emergency services.

Your Career Path

This position offers growth opportunities within the Office of Community Safety and across the city’s Executive Department. Successful leaders in this role may advance to senior management or policy-level positions in behavioral health strategy, program development, or public safety leadership. You’ll also have access to ongoing professional development, continuing education, and cross-departmental learning opportunities.
