Duties

Establishes overall layouts and drafts sketches and drawings, applying computing tolerances, dimensions, clearances, fits, loads, sizes, and electrical design aspects as required.,During the design of a project, constant reviews of the progress are necessary by the incumbent to ensure the project is kept within the construction budget and that the drawings are completed within the allotted design time.,The incumbent makes field visits to the activities originating the work request and confers with the originators to determine their requirements.,Builds scope of work, monitors, and ensures all work completed by contractors are to per build specs.,The incumbent prepares specifications and cost estimates for the project and scope of work to be performed or initially planned makes engineering compromises and decisions to accomplish coordinated engineering designs within budget limits.,Creates and maintains a record of both planned work and work in progress.,Determines appropriateness of electrical design criteria for standard government design or special mission considerations.,Monitors and investigates areas of high energy usage to determine whether they are workload or facility/equipment/utility oriented.,Serves as staff advisor, project officer and primary point of contact for energy resource management.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year experience which includes experience performing any two or more of the following: (1) electrical work projects such as construction, utilities, facilities, (2) developing maintenance and repair procedures for electrical systems/equipment, (3) performing inspections for repair on minor/major electrical projects, (4) providing technical assistance on electrical projects; or (5) managing construction projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
