Summary Specific Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Sr Manager Customer
Experience, the Revenue and Remittance Manager leads the billing department,
overseeing all aspects of customer billing, revenue accounting, and remittance
operations. This role is responsible for is responsible for the functional operation of
the Company’s Billing, Collections, and Accounts Receivable Department, or
collectively, Revenue Services. The Revenue Services Manager also supports the
client relationships and billing for non-regulated revenue agreements. The Manager serves
as a key liaison across departments and contributes to organizational goals
through data-driven insights and continuous process improvement.
Lead, mentor, and develop billing department staff; establish performance goals, conduct evaluations, and implement professional development plans.
Oversee the resolution of complex billing issues, including escalated customer disputes, service anomalies, and payment discrepancies.
Direct daily billing operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory tariffs and internal controls.
Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Customer Service to implement new rates, system enhancements, and process improvements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal departments regarding billing inquiries, remittance posting, and customer communications.
Identify and resolve systemic issues related to billing, cash processing, and revenue accounting; implement corrective actions and preventive controls.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to executive leadership; provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
Lead audit preparation and response efforts, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables for quarterly, interim, and annual audits.
Develop and manage the billing department budget; oversee procurement of equipment, services, and supplies; ensure cost-effective operations.
Author and review Requests for Proposals (RFPs); participate in vendor selection and contract negotiations.
Monitor regulatory changes affecting billing and collections; develop and implement policy updates to ensure compliance.
Provides overall direction, coordination, support, and evaluation of staff, including hiring, training, and PMP reviews.
Coordinates and directs the operation and activities for billing and A/R, including regulated and non-regulated billing and payments.
Oversees the collection activity and establishes policies and procedures to promote timely collections of overdue accounts.
Implements new and enhanced applications to ensure further functionality in the billing, payment, collection, and A/R area.
Provides support and technical assistance to resolve billing inquiries, problems, or discrepancies related to customers’ accounts.
Maintains Sarbanes-Oxley compliance logs/documents that provide evidence of department compliance with system policies and procedures. Develops policies and procedures as required.
Manage the preparation of Bill Analysis and Consumption reports, including reconciliation and other supporting documents.
Develop relationships with communities that we serve to develop and perform community outreach events.
Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
