Under the Supervision or direction of nursing, assisting the nursing staff by sitting with patients that are altered or have specific psych diagnosis to aid in the prevention of self-harm or harm to others, in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the hospital.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Prior nursing or medical assistance experience preferred, but not required

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: General knowledge of basic bedside nursing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to encourage safety of the patient and report necessary issues, based on the physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to age of the patients served in assigned area/department. The skills and knowledge to provide such care are gained through education, training, and/or experience.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

6. Be able to sit with patients and recognize potential harmful situations for those patients who have been determined to have potential to cause harm to self or others by removing equipment, wrong positioning, and/or attempting to get out of bed. This may include, but not limited to patients with a psych diagnosis such as suicidal ideations or those who may be altered due to dementia drug induced.
