About the Department
The Caseworker will work within the Division of Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) to provide assistance in case management for the Medicaid-funded Community-Based Programs including Community First Choice, Community Options Waiver, Increased Community Services and the Nursing Facility Program Education under Federal Financial Participation.
The hiring salary for this position is $55,910 annually; full salary range for this position is $55,910 - $96,179 annually.
Position Duties
- Communicates with consumers, family members and Case Managers;
- Does in-home assessments and other visits;
- Does quarterly visits, which include defined tasks;
- Handles consumer needs per regulations;
- Writes detailed case notes as appropriate;
- Supports caregiver training/education;
- Supports the HCBS Division in a positive manner;
- Ability to learn and navigate the Long-Term Support Services Tracking System;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary’s County Government policies and procedures;
- Ability to operate relevant computer programs and tracking systems;
- Ability to gain knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations regarding assigned programs;
- Ability to effectively communicate with other staff and members of the public in a courteous and caring manner;
- Ability to prioritize and multitask;
- Ability to use available resources to research information;
- Ability to keep accurate records.
Other Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and;
- Two years or more of experience or additional education in a specialized area;
- Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.

Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort.
