Job Description
The Maintenance Technician works under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to provide for routine maintenance, repairs, and renovations to optimize safety, security, functionality, and aesthetics of Goodwill Industries of the Summit's leased and owned properties and vehicle fleet. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Regularly inspect facilities, vehicles, and mechanical and security systems to verify safe operating condition and remediate any deficiencies identified.
- Perform light construction work and repairs including, but not limited to, ballast replacement, door and hinge repairs, installation and replacement of ceiling tiles, repairs to plumbing fixtures, and painting.
- Respond to after hours maintenance emergencies if necessary.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory and insurance inspections related to building systems, vehicle operations, and safety.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all equipment, vehicles, and supplies.
- Provide for adequate inter-departmental communication and information flow and work cooperatively with all GIS associates and volunteers.
- Ensure that all activities and operations in assigned areas of responsibility are carried out in compliance with agency policies, local, state, and federal regulations, and applicable laws.
- Work toward eliminating accessibility barriers in all GIS facilities.
- Position requires regular local travel within a multi-county area in a company vehicle.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED and building trade or related certification required, as well as two (2) years related work experience in facility construction or maintenance field.
- Valid driver’s license with safe driving history required.
- Must have ability to pass criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
Additional Information
- Beginning hourly rate is between $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, depending upon experience.
