Job Description:

Gameday Law Enforcement Officer

This position is a law enforcement position in which incumbent serves as a uniformed or plain clothes officer assigned to various gameday units and/or details. This position description describes the typical duties/work setting of the job.  The actual duties for a position listed on the position description may vary slightly and the incumbent may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

In coordination the LSU Athletics and other law enforcement agencies, the LSU Police Department is responsible for coordinating all law enforcement related game day activities for LSU home games. The Chief of LSU Police Department or his designee, utilizing an Incident Command System, will exercise command and operational control of all law enforcement game day activities.  The Chief of LSU Police Department will work with the LSU Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation, the LSU Athletic Department, and other law enforcement agencies to organize and manage traffic control, parking and the security plan for Tiger Stadium and the LSU Campus.

Reports directly to the supervisor of higher rank.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides, as requested, and within capabilities extraordinary assistance to Stadium Operations.

  • Assist with stadium security, traffic flow and parking lot operations prior to the game and traffic flow after the game in accordance with assignments coordinated with the LSU Police Department.

  • Comply with applicable LSU Law Enforcement Game Day Rules.

  • Prior to each football season, meet with LSU Athletics and LSUPD to review staffing needs and assignments for the upcoming season.

  • Prepares required police reports and law enforcement related documents. 

  • Attends shift briefing related to duties as assigned.  Prepares reports case/traffic reports for supervisor review and approval.

  • Provides foot/mobile security patrol and protects lives/property with primary emphasis on enforcement of laws, keeping in communication with authorized personnel.

  • Enforces state motor vehicle traffic laws and investigates traffic accidents.  Provides emergency medical services, and renders assistance as required.  

  • Works assignments involving fire safety, environmental safety, hazardous materials, building security, and selective enforcement programs; and also, emergency response assignments as it relates to details such as hurricanes, floods, bomb threats, and/or any other catastrophic situation as required.

Qualifications

  • Must be employed as a full time, commissioned law enforcement officer

  • Must be Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Council (POST) certified

  • Must be in good standing with the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Council (POST)

  • Must have powers of arrest within the Parish of East Baton Rouge
