About the role:
Rakuten Viki is seeking a Creative Localization Designer (1-Year Contract Role) to support our Brand Marketing team, based in San Mateo, CA. This role will be responsible for localizing marketing creative assets for global audiences. The ideal candidate has good design fundamentals, strong attention to detail, a keen eye for layout and typography, and experience working with brand guidelines to update static images and short videos for multilingual use. You’ll collaborate with our marketing and localization teams to deliver high-quality, localized creatives that enhance engagement and brand consistency across regions.
This is a contract role based in San Mateo, CA and will report to the Manager, Brand & Product Marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
Update and export localized versions of marketing assets (e.g., static images, social posts, banners, short videos) by replacing English copy with translated text for multiple languages and formats
Ensure all localized designs remain visually balanced and aligned with brand and platform guidelines
Adapt typography, layouts, and animation timing for various languages while preserving visual consistency
Organize and maintain structured project files for streamlined versioning
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to manage and prioritize asset requests
Deliver assets accurately and on time for multiple campaigns and markets
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, or Digital Art or related field
Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro
Basic understanding of video editing and animation and willingness to learn on the spot
Strong creative and conceptual thinking with an eye for detail
Self-starter with excellent time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Requirements:
Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and/or After Effects
Strong understanding of design principals and motion animation with experience working with multilingual content
Experience with digital marketing or social creative production is a plus
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Familiarity with localization best practices a plus; language skills in Spanish, Portuguese, or French a bonus but not required
Experience in direct-to-consumer (B2C) industry required. Experience with entertainment or subscription services is a plus.
Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple projects while delivering results on time.
Familiarity with Asian entertainment.
Hybrid working arrangement in San Mateo, CA or remote with prior approval

Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location.
