Job Summary: Serve as the Head Coach for the Junior High Girls Basketball Team, providing leadership, organization, and direction for all aspects of the program. The coach is responsible for fostering player development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility while building a positive culture that supports both student success and community involvement.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Plan, organize, and lead practices focused on fundamental skills, strategy, and teamwork.
Develop and implement game plans and player rotations for competitive play.
Provide individualized instruction to help athletes reach their full potential.
Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes respect, effort, and sportsmanship.
Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic staff, and school administration to ensure program alignment and safety.
Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team goals.
Monitor academic progress and reinforce the importance of balancing athletics with education.
Manage team equipment, uniforms, and other program logistics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, rules, and coaching strategies appropriate for junior high athletes.
Ability to teach and motivate student-athletes of varying skill levels.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to inspire teamwork and discipline.
Organizational skills for planning practices, games, and program operations.
Commitment to student growth, character development, and academic success.
Ability to adapt coaching methods to meet individual and team needs.
Familiarity with technology tools for scheduling, communication, and performance tracking is a plus.
Working Environment: Collaborates closely with assistant coaches, school staff, and athletic administrators to maintain a supportive and safe environment for all participants.
Experience: Prior experience coaching basketball or working with youth athletes is preferred. A background in education, physical education, or athletics is beneficial.
