ABOUT THE COMPANY

American GI Forum - National Veterans Outreach Program is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to establish and maintain a comprehensive community service agency with a diversified funding source serving the needs of Veterans, their families, and other individuals of the community who are in need. Our goal is to establish innovative programs of service for the contemporary needs, through an expansion and growth policy that will seek complimentary services that will generate self-sustaining mechanisms for the organization.

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for receiving, unpacking, arranging and storing goods, and gathering, packing, preparing and loading goods for dispatching; checking stock for damage and wear; reporting faults and discrepancies to relevant parties; marking and labeling stock 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures cleanliness, tidiness and safety of work environment.
  • Loads and unloads delivery vehicles.
  • Accepts delivery of inventory.
  • Counts and confirms inventory.
  • Inspects inventory for damage and faults.
  • Communicate errors to relevant parties.
  • Marks and labels stock.
  • Stores inventory in an accessible manner.
  • Loads and wraps stock on pallets.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have a TX driver license. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:  
    1. Forklift Certification preferred; not required.
  • Other skills required
    1. Work experience as a general laborer, preferably in a warehouse.
    2. Ability to operate forklift proficiently.
    3. Completion of background investigation and drug screening.
    4. Strong people skills.
    5. Good moral character.
    6. Physically strong, agile and dexterous, and undeterred by heights and adverse climatic conditions.
    7. Positive work history and ability to maintain solid attendance.
    8. Available to work extended hours.

TRAVEL

 Primarily local during business day although some out-of-area travel may be expected via airline or automobile based on the discretion of management.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to bend, lift, walk, and carry items. Physically capable of lifting and/or moving objects up to 75 pounds as necessary.
