DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Track key performance while maintaining regulatory compliance by overseeing day-to-day file quality and ensuring that decisions are sound, fair, and consistent with the goals of the department and in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Ensure the achievement of goals by continuously monitoring production and performance levels to effectively achieve departmental and organizational initiatives.
  • Effectively manage the resources of the Claims Department by training and retaining highly qualified individuals and communicating expectations on a regular basis.
  • Provides goal-oriented direction to subordinates, assists with problem solving as needs arise, and notifies individuals promptly when adjustments or problems are perceived.
  • Ensures high accuracy of claims processing is delivered by continuously monitoring quality assurance standards.
  • Ensures a high level of morale between the claims department personnel and internal and external customers by promoting direct, open lines of communications throughout the departmental units.
  • Attends promptly to the administrative details of the position including preparation of reports, completion of performance appraisals and other employee-related actions.
  • Ensures that all processes are carried out in an ethical, responsible manner.
  • Supervise quality claims handling to achieve cycle time, severity, customer satisfaction, loss ratio and profitability goals.
  • Lead and assure proactive customer service for both external and internal customers that meets and/​or exceeds established goals with accountability for results and responsibility for appropriate resolution.​
  • Participates in cross functional projects and initiatives, and promotes inter department cooperative efforts.
  • Develop and train claims representatives.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

  • Performs all other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Requires
    • Bachelor’s degree required + 5 years of adjusting experience; or;
    • High school diploma and 9 years of property and casualty experience with 7+ years of claims handling experience.
  • One to three years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have or actively pursuing CPCU/AIC or other insurance certification
  • Must have a valid GA driver’s license.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

 OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES

The employee must be able to organize and prioritize work; must have knowledge of office administration procedures and able to operate most standard office equipment. The employee must pay attention to detail in composing and proofing materials. Must be self-motivated with initiative and ability to make decisions and accept responsibility. Employee must be flexible to respond to unexpected situations that require immediate attention. A high level of confidentiality is to be maintained by the employee. Must be adaptable to change on short notice and have excellent people skills such as diplomacy, tact, patience, good listener and communicator.

Specific vision requirements by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings with attorneys, mitigations, depositions, conferences, training classes etc.
