PDK Development Engineer
Job Description
MACOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced RF Device Test Engineer to join our dynamic Technology Development team. This role is centered on device characterization, test software development, and automation of testing procedures for both active and passive RF devices. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure accurate testing methodologies and high-quality data acquisition that support technology development and design objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities for this role include:
- Design and execute comprehensive device characterization, including DC/Pulse IV, S-parameters, load-pull, noise figure, and other RF measurements.
- Develop, implement, and validate test software aligned with test plans and bench setups.
- Maintain and monitor lab equipment performance and coordinate with vendors for service and support.
- Manage inventory of testing materials such as wafers, calibration structures, fixtures, and assembly components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test software and hardware; provide technical support to other business units as needed.
What you will need to succeed:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in semiconductor device manufacturing or a related field
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment including network analyzers, AMCAD Pulse IV, Maury and Focus load-pull systems, signal generators, AWGs, power supplies, and comb generators.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or MATLAB for test automation and data analysis
- Solid understanding of various calibration techniques including SOLT, TRL, LRM.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Due to ITAR regulations, the candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Other things that would be useful:
- Proven track record in device characterization with III-V
semiconductor devices
- Familiarity with advanced RF characterization tools (e.g., PNAx,
IV systems, active load-pull setups).
- Deep understanding of RF principles and compound semiconductor behavior.
