Job Summary:
Are you committed to helping individuals overcome mental health and substance use disorders? Join our dedicated team as a Certified SUD Counselor, where you will assist clients in accordance with their treatment plans to enhance their abilities to function in daily living and educational or work environments. Utilizing your skills and expertise, you will develop individualized treatment plans, facilitate group sessions, and provide compassionate support to those on their recovery journey.
As a Certified SUD Counselor, you will play a vital role in guiding clients toward recovery, helping them develop healthier coping mechanisms and improve their overall functioning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Complete the intake/screening/assessment process within the appropriate time frames as designated by state regulatory/accrediting bodies.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that evolve based on assessment information and adhere to regulatory guidelines.
• Document all services provided in accordance with state regulations, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping.
• Actively participate in clinical staffing and treatment team meetings, providing feedback on client cases.
• Conduct crisis interventions and provide support to clients facing substance use challenges.
• Facilitate group counseling, group education, family conferences, and individual sessions aimed at resolving substance use issues.
• Encourage clients to examine attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that promote recovery and healthy decision-making.
• Maintain positive professional relationships with clients, referral sources, and coworkers, adhering to ethical standards.
• Represent the agency professionally within the community and handle crisis situations as they arise.
• Complete annual training requirements in evidence-based practices to enhance clinical skills.
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
• For Missouri:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (non-licensed) in a human services field and/or certified/credentialed to provide services within your scope of practice.
- Hold credentials such as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or other relevant certifications as defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board
For Kansas:
- Hold credentials as defined by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board (BSRB), including Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC).
• Willingness to become credentialed in additional states and provide telehealth services as needed.
Employment Requirements:
• Successful completion of a background check, including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect checks.
• Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
• Current driver's license in state of residency, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
• Obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within three (3) months of beginning employment.
• Completion of behavioral management training within thirty (30) days of employment.
• Commitment to annual training requirements, including fifty (50) hours of training annually (Missouri Only).
