Job Description Summary:
The Boiler / Licensed Wastewater Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant’s boiler systems, wastewater treatment operations, and related utility equipment in a food manufacturing environment. This position ensures all systems operate within regulatory, environmental, and food safety standards while supporting continuous production and maintaining a clean, compliant facility.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a valid Authorized Stationary Engineer Certificate and ensure compliance with all boiler and wastewater regulations.
Operate, monitor, and maintain boiler and compressed air systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including equipment inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting.
Conduct boiler chemical treatments and maintain accurate operating logs.
Operate and maintain wastewater treatment systems; perform daily testing, record results, and make necessary system adjustments.
Keep all wastewater and utility equipment in good working order and ensure permit and testing requirements are met.
Follow all safety, environmental, and food safety policies, including proper PPE use, Lockout/Tagout, and sanitation standards.
Report and correct unsafe conditions and ensure all work supports production of safe, high-quality food products.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Certified Stationary Engineer in NJ – Must have (B) Red Seal
Valid Wastewater Operator License N2 Required
High school diploma or GED.
2–3 years of related experience in industrial or food manufacturing operations.
Working knowledge of boiler and wastewater treatment systems
Basic computer skills for logging data and generating reports.
Knowledge in preventative maintenance and good repair practices
Knowledgeable in repairing and rebuilding pumps
Ability to replace motors, valves, aerators, and filters
Must be able to run and fit PVC and black piping
Seasonal Plant – Summer months require longer days.
Compensation Range: $30-45 per hour
