Description
Company Overview:
Vividion is a next generation biotechnology company based in San Diego that is leveraging its proprietary chemical proteomics platform to conduct proteome-wide footprinting of drug-protein interactions with unprecedented breadth and precision. Our technology allows us to screen, identify and optimize novel drugs that selectively bind virtually any protein, including proteins previously considered “undruggable”. Our pipeline and emerging programs reflect a matured and productive platform capable of delivering first in class drugs utilizing novel mechanisms of action (allosteric inhibitors, protein-protein interaction inhibitors, functional activators, degraders etc.) against undruggable targets in the oncology and immunology space.
We prize scientific excellence, creativity, team players and we are committed to continued innovation. We have worked hard to create a collaborative and dynamic work culture where your ideas and discoveries are valued and will have an impact. We are growing and there are opportunities for mentorship and career progression.
Vividion has been recognized as a Top Workplace by The San Diego Union-Tribune in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Job Summary:
Vividion Therapeutics is seeking a scientist who is passionate about harnessing the power of proteomics to probe biology and identify new drug targets. In this position, the successful candidate will contribute to the identification of novel chemical matter and undruggable targets using our state-of-the-art chemical proteomics platform. The candidate will contribute to the design, execution and analysis of proteomics and chemical biology experiments that characterize small molecule-protein interactions across the proteome.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain mass spectrometers and associated liquid chromatography systems to perform bottom-up proteomics analyses
- Contribute to the implementation, development, and optimization of peptide sample preparation workflows, including the utilization of various types of chemical and affinity probes
- Analyze mass spectrometry data and summarize findings in clear presentations and reports
- Cross-functionally interact with biologists and chemists on project teams, sharing key findings from proteomics experiments
Experience and education requirements:
- Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in mass-spectrometry based proteomics or chemical biology or a B.A/M.S. in a relevant field with at least 10 years industry experience in mass spectrometry
- Proficient in operating and maintaining orbitrap mass spectrometers and associated LC systems (Dionex U3000, Vanquish Neo)
- Experience in acquiring, analyzing and interpreting various formats of proteomics data, including PRM, DIA, DDA and TMT. Experience designing and building scheduled PRM methods is a plus.
- Experience with proteomics peptide sample preparation protocols, including affinity enrichments
- Familiarity with MS software packages like Skyline, Spectronaut and Sequest is a plus
- An understanding of chemical biology, particularly with respect to the interaction of covalent ligands with proteins
- Experience with standard cell culture techniques to grow and maintain human cell lines and perform transient transfections is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with a desire to be involved in collaborative, cross-functional teams
Required Key Attributes:
- Excellent organization and communication skills; ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively; attention to detail and good documentation habits
- Be a team player and strong individual contributor, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks and deliver high quality results under tight timelines
