The CNEF will use a student-centered approach, built on the foundation of trust and respect to promote transformation of skill and knowledge into a continuum of clinical growth. The action of facilitation is not merely coordination or provision of resources or efforts to make things easier; rather it is a goal-oriented dynamic process in which the CNEF and student/participant work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect to learn through critical reflection and critical thinking. Facilitation is a complex, multifaceted process of dissemination of knowledge and enabling the implementation of evidence into practice. The CNEF will spend most of their time within clinical areas working alongside the nurses teaching direct patient skills, linking theory with practice and decision making. The CNEF is actively involved in the professional development for nursing staff including the identification and development of strategies to facilitate a continuous process of lifelong learning, role transition, role integration, skill acquisition and mastery as learners advance from advanced beginner to expert.
