Responsible for performing duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, and equipment handling within the healthcare environment.
Job Duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Cleans and disinfects areas such as restrooms, offices, patient care areas, and common areas.
• Uses and applies appropriate cleaning chemicals.
• Cleans office furniture, windows, and light fixtures.
• Collects and disposes of trash from inside buildings and the surrounding premises.
• Moves office furniture and other items.
• Operates floor maintenance equipment, including buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors.
• Restocks custodial supplies.
• Handles and/or disposes of bio-hazardous waste or materials in accordance with infection prevention policies/practices.
• Operates disinfection equipment.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, guests, and staff.
• Performs terminal cleanings.
• Follows safety procedures and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Adheres to patient privacy requirements, organization safety, risk management and infection prevention guidelines and standards.
• Performs laundry duties, collects soiled linens and stocks clean linens.
• Cleans grounds using rakes, brooms, leaf blowers and hoses.
• Mowing, weed eating and chemical spraying of grounds.
• Environmental Services in surgical suites at a minimum of 20 hours a week, Or 20 hours of the workweek performing assigned maintenance work orders to the grounds or facility.
• Determines and orders needed supplies as assigned.
• Inspects buildings and facilities for cleanliness, completed work and needed repairs.
• Other duties as assigned
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Performs work under minimal supervision.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.
• Serves as a Lead.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One (1) year of related experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must obtain DOT Regulated Medical Waste Training Certification within sixty (60) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
• Must obtain Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) or T-CHEST Certification within ninety (90) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
May be required to possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
