POSITION:                                SUPERVISOR OF PUPIL SERVICES

SALARY RANGE:                      $98,354-  $128,377

LOCATION:                               A. HARRY MOORE SCHOOL

JOB SUMMARY: To work with the administrative team to provide school-wide leadership, focusing on instructional and pupil services, to promote the educational, Related Services, and social-emotional development of each student. Supervises: School counselors, school nurses, and all certificated Educators and non-certificated school staff as assigned by the Principal.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. School Leadership

1.      Serves as building administrator in the absence of the principal.

2.      Assumes responsibility for the design and implementation of instructional programs, guidance, and social-emotional initiatives, based on current educational theory and research, to meet the specific needs of the school and their students.

3.      Serves on building and University committees.

4.      Assists in the development and monitoring of the budget pertaining to instructional, guidance, and social-emotional services.

5.      Ensures a smooth transition into high school and the adult programs for various student populations under their responsibility through continuing articulation with the school district case managers.

6.      Oversees all school departments responsible for ABA, RTI, and character education.

7.      Oversees the school’s Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Coordinator.

8.      Coordinates and implements programs and practices to support student and community awareness of suicide prevention, drug and alcohol prevention, mental wellness, digital citizenship, cyber-safety, and SEL.

B. Instructional Leadership

1.      Promotes a culture of continuous instructional improvement through regular observation, feedback, and professional development opportunities.

2.      Works closely with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies that address the diverse needs of students with special needs.

3.      Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and assessments that align with state and district standards.

4.      Facilitates data-driven decision-making to enhance student outcomes and program effectiveness.

5.      Collaborates with special education staff to develop and implement IEPs that support student growth and achievement.

C. Student Discipline/Supervision of Students

1.      Assists building principal in maintaining high standards of student conduct and implementing disciplinary procedures as stated in the Code of Conduct.

2.      Assists building principal with the supervision of arrival/dismissal, cafeterias, hallways, and recess during school hours.

3.      Provides guidance to individual students and resolves individual behavioral problems.

4.      Supports teachers who have students with behavioral issues.

5.      In cooperation with the building Principals, works with students, staff, parents, law enforcement officials, and others in the implementation of student behavior codes, positive behavioral programs, and restorative practices.

6.      Generates and maintains accurate discipline records.

7.      Assists in new student orientation for incoming students.

8.      Assists in developing innovative strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive plans for students who exhibit at-risk behaviors.

D. Record-Keeping, Reporting, and Scheduling

1.      Assists and oversees the preparation of required reports of harassment, intimidation, and bullying.

2.      Assists the administrative team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the master schedules.

3.      Oversees the acquisition and implementation of district resources to support instructional initiatives, social-emotional, guidance, and nursing initiatives.

E. Interactions with School Staff

1. Evaluates assigned staff in accordance with State Law and Regulations, Policy, and School Practices.

2. Works with the administrative team in providing effective climate and culture, curricular, instructional, and program leadership to the schools.

3. Assists in the coordination and supervision of special programs funded by the State or Federal Government.

4. Assists in the recruiting, screening, recommending, and assigning of the schools’ staff.

5. Assists in the orientation of new staff members, especially as it relates to the areas of student policy and procedures.

6. Assists in implementing district policy, goals, and objectives.

7. Exercise decisive leadership in crisis situations.

8. Acts in a supportive role in working with parents, teachers, and the community to promote the effective flow of communication.

9. Promotes good school-parent relationships when discussing specific student issues with parents.

F. Contact with Students

1. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary in accordance with the Code of Conduct.

2. In conjunction with the building Principals, supervises the planning and delivery of intervention and ABA/RTI for pupils who are having difficulty in their classes and who have not been classified in need of Applied Behavior Analysis services.

3. Supervises guidance services within the school.

4. Supervises nursing services within the school.

5. Supervises HIB investigations, procedures, and school climate team as per State Law.

G. Other

1. Assists in the planning and supervision of activities to promote student and staff health and safety.

2. Oversees the development and monitoring of the school’s social emotional programs and projects.

3. Maintains personal professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.

4. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Possesses a Valid New Jersey Supervisor and/or Principal Certification

B. Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in Education and has Leadership Experience.

C. Possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

D. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of New Jersey State Learning Standards, Curriculum and Instruction, Lesson Planning, IEP development, Statewide Assessments, child growth and development, Applied Behavioral Analysis, positive behavioral supports, restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and the resources available in the school and community to assist students.

Terms of Employment: This is a twelve-month position with a salary to be established by NJCU Human Resources.

Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal in accordance with New Jersey State Law and the provisions of the policy on the evaluation of certified staff.
