Position Salary Range:
- $48.600 - $95,000 per year; DOE
Essential Duties:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of instructional and research lab managers across multiple buildings and lab environments.
- Provide leadership in planning, staffing, budgeting, and performance management for the TPS lab operations function.
- Oversee day-to-day lab operations through team leadership, ensuring high standards in safety, equipment maintenance, training, and instructional and research support.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic leadership, and facilities partners to align lab operations with curriculum, research needs, and innovation goals.
- Serve as a liaison to FSE and ASU core support functions such as EHS, Facilities Management and IT to support lab readiness, renovations, and compliance.
- Provide direct or indirect management and supervision of external vendors as necessary to support installation, maintenance and/or repairs of lab equipment.
- Lead the implementation of standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and training programs across all TPS labs.
- Contribute to strategic planning, space optimization, and investment decisions related to lab facilities and shared equipment.
- Manage operational budgets and advise on capital needs related to lab infrastructure.
- Support onboarding and professional development for lab staff and student workers.
- Promote a culture of safety, service, innovation, and continuous improvement within TPS labs.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Experience leading teams in both instructional and research lab settings.
Familiarity with university systems and facilities planning.
Experience supporting interdisciplinary or project-based engineering education.
Proven ability to implement safety and compliance systems in complex lab environments.
Working Environment:
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office and laboratory settings subject to extended periods of standing and sitting.
- Lift or move heavy items, more than 25 lbs. regularly.
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing and pulling heavy items.
- Use office equipment including a desktop computer.
- Use of laboratory equipment.
- Work both independently or within a complex structured team.
