The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of the company’s fleet vehicles, including occasional on-site service at client locations. This role ensures that all company vehicles are functioning optimally, supporting safe and efficient operations. The mechanic may work both in the company’s garage and in the field, diagnosing issues, replacing or repairing parts, and performing routine inspections to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble and reassemble motors or motor components to perform repairs, replacements, or maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various types of equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance, ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy.
  • Obtain and replace parts from inventory, and document all repairs and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, including proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Provide on-site maintenance and repairs at client locations or roadside, as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Attend and complete any required training, including certification and safety courses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the efficient operation of the fleet.
Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in fleet or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and other vehicle components.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Must own a personal set of mechanic tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with construction or industrial fleet vehicles.
  • Additional certifications in vehicle maintenance, diesel engines, or hydraulics.
  • Prior experience servicing vehicles at client sites or in the field.
