Job Functions:
Responsible for leading all aspects of the Thrift Store including, but not limited to, revenue generation, operations, and online sales.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead the retail aspect of the Thrift Store ensuring the sales revenue grows annually.
- Maintain and manage any online sales.
- Carefully manage the balance between meeting existing customer needs and transforming the store as the community demographic evolves.
- With the Marketing Team’s assistance, develop a marketing strategy, with metrics, increasing exposure and donations.
- Contribute to the development and execute a social return on investment strategy, with metrics, creating a transformational, lasting impact on the community and its citizens.
- Create schedules, provide training, and daily workload for employees and volunteers who work in the Thrift Store and associated warehouse.
- Oversee all Thrift Store warehouse operations including, but not limited to, the following: Sorting and hanging clothes, storing of products, maintaining a retrievable inventory of stored items and furniture, and ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and inviting environment for volunteers and interns.
- Ensure the store and accompanying facilities are clean with shelves stocked, regularly rotated, and neatly organized.
- Assist and help customers in a friendly and dignified manner.
- Overseeing balance and maintenance of cash register, daily reports, and bank deposits.
- Maintain a close and growing relationship with Sunshine Thrift, including managing weekly pick-ups, assisting with new drop box locations, and seeking ways to increase revenue.
- Work with upper management to set and meet daily sales objectives and oversee budget expenses.
- Meet personal goals and actively contribute to the achievement of team and organizational target goals as it applies to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Support Metro Outfitters daily with clothing, as well as other Metropolitan Ministries needs, which includes furniture and household items, on and off campus.
- Manage donation pick-up process and assist Donor Services Team to achieve their goals.
- Manage all furniture donations from the point of delivery to Metropolitan Ministries from the Logistics Team, including helping unload vehicles as needed.
- Support the holiday program by managing all non-holiday donations.
- Manage employee and volunteer Thrift Store purchase policies.
- Provide support to all Metropolitan Ministries teams as needed.
20. Maintain package delivery system and ensure all packages are logged into the system and signed out appropriately.
21. Maintain and manage online donation application (i.e. ReSupply).
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary framework; Must be willing to be cross-trained and utilized throughout the operations department. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally as well as in writing. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner. Bilingual plus. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Clover POS System: Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing/walking/bending/stooping and stretching. Must be able to relocate materials in a safe and proper manner. Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability as to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Must be able to lift 25 lbs or more.
Other:
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule during strategic and holiday periods of the year including weeknights, weekends, and particularly Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Must be legally licensed and capable of driving Ministries vehicles. Must pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures.
