Your Role
The Corporate tax team oversees tax compliance, tax provision, and tax reporting functions at Blue Shield of California. The Corporate Tax Intern will report to a Tax team leader. In this role you will play function as part of the Tax team in delivering and collaborating on all tax aspects of operational expense, quality improvement, and health transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Work within the Corporate tax organization to further automate the tax compliance process
- Support the tax compliance, tax provision and tax reporting process at the legal entity level
- Support the determination of tax reporting for more than 20 legal entities within the Federal Consolidated Return
- Focus on the automation of tax data sets for use in preparing corporate tax filings
- Support the translation of Consolidated Financial statement data into the 20+ unique reporting legal entities
- Develop an understanding of member program operations and assist in day-to-day operations and program improvements
Qualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with an emphasis or interest in taxation
- Must reside in the state of California
- Strong Accounting knowledge with working understanding of financial statements - income statement and balance sheet
- A robust analytical skill set (Microsoft Excel proficiency)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and pursuing a graduate degree with an emphasis in taxation
- Knowledge of healthcare ecosystem; health plan and payer economics
- Consulting and/or managerial experience
Pay:
$25.00 per hour for Undergraduate
$30.00 per hour for Graduate

Two Ways of Working:
- Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above). Exceptions:
o Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote.
o Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.

- On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.
