Job Responsibilities

The STRIVE (Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Violence) initiative, administered by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), aims to reduce intimate partner violence in high-need communities by supporting local law enforcement, prosecutors, and victim service providers.

The STRIVE Crime Analyst gathers and analyzes crime statistics specifically related to intimate partner violence and prepares related work products as required.  This position requires specialized knowledge in the field of crime analysis theories and crime analysis software. The analyst will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team responding to requests from law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, and the STRIVE Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, data analytics, public administration, or a related field, plus 1-3 years of experience in crime analysis or data analytics.
  • If not already possessed, the selected candidate will be required to obtain Level 1 Crime Analyst Certification within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with law enforcement data systems such as NCIC, RMS (Records Management Systems), and CJIS-compliant databases.
  • Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) software for crime mapping and spatial analysis

• • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods, including person work-ups and case file reviews.
