Position Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the chief executive and instructional leader of APCSI. Under the direction and authority of the Board of Trustees, the CEO provides visionary leadership, ensures academic and operational excellence, manages financial stability, and fosters strong relationships among students, staff, families, and the community.

 

The CEO is responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the organization, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and maintaining alignment with the Arkansas Department of Education’s charter school performance expectations. 

 

The ideal candidate for Chief Executive Officer of APCSI is a visionary and student-centered leader with a proven record of improving academic outcomes and operational performance. This individual brings strategic foresight, integrity, and the ability to inspire excellence across all levels of the organization.

 

They possess a deep understanding of K–12 education and charter school governance, with strong skills in instructional leadership, organizational management, and financial stewardship. The ideal candidate fosters collaboration among teachers, administrators, families, and the community, ensuring that every decision supports student growth and the mission of the school.

 

They are an effective communicator and relationship builder—someone who can represent APCSI with professionalism, advocate for the charter’s success, and build lasting partnerships within the community. Above all, the ideal CEO leads with purpose, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to educational excellence and equity.

 

Key Responsibilities


Leadership and Strategy

  • Develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
  • Inspire, motivate, and guide school leaders, teachers, and staff to achieve excellence in student outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
  • Represent the organization publicly as its primary spokesperson and advocate for charter school education in the community and at the state level.
  • Develop and implement a plan for increasing student enrollment at APCSI.

 

Academic Excellence

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and curriculum to ensure high levels of student achievement.
  • Ensure compliance with all academic standards, charter requirements, and accountability measures.
  • Support professional development and cultivate instructional leadership among principals and staff.

 

Operations and Finance

  • Ensure sound fiscal management and stewardship of public funds.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and promotion strategy that supports and enhances the school’s fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget consistent with the organization’s goals and priorities.
  • Oversee all operational functions, including human resources, budgeting, facilities, and technology.
  • Ensure effective data-driven decision-making and transparent reporting to the Board.


Governance and Board Relations

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Trustees and school operations.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and relevant information to the Board to support informed governance.
  • Implement Board policies and directives effectively and ethically.

 

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships with parents, community leaders, and educational organizations.
  • Advocate for the needs and interests of APCSI at the local and state levels.
  • Promote a positive school culture centered on student success and staff collaboration.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful leadership experience in a school, district, or charter management organization.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student academic outcomes and managing complex educational operations.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

 

 

Preferred:

  • Arkansas Superintendent License or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience leading or working within a charter school system.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, policy implementation, and community partnerships.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
