This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled HR generalist seeking a part-time role (working Monday to Thursday) within a dynamic and fast-paced team. As HR Advisor, you will be a vital support to the Head of HR, contributing across a broad range of HR activities and helping to drive positive outcomes for the business.

This generalist role will give you the opportunity to be involved in the whole of the employee life cycle, with some areas of complete ownership. 

Reporting to the Head of HR, you will support colleagues across the business with HR matters. You will be responsible for advising managers on a range of staff management issues, working closely with the Finance Manager to oversee the administration of our monthly payroll and other benefits as well as supporting the Head of HR to deliver our people strategy.  This really is an opportunity to deliver impact in a stretched team. 

 

The role will offer you the opportunity to:  

  • Support the Head of HR to create and implement an HR strategy in line with the overall business strategy   
  • Take responsibility for elements of the overall HR operations of the BVCA, providing general HR advice and support to line managers and directors.   
  • Develop and implement a training and development programme for all employees  
  • Work with the Head to ensure that everyone has strong objectives and Personal Development Plans   
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle and develop a talent pipeline where appropriate   
  • Support the Head of HR with the annual recruitment, culture and training budgets, providing insights to make informed decision moving forward 
  •  Help to develop and maintain the company culture and create plans to constantly improve employee engagement.  
  • Support the EDI agenda internally 
  • In conjunction with the Finance Manager prepare payroll and benefits administration ensuring accuracy and answering any queries from employees    
  • Oversee all general HR issues   
  • HR Administration will be part of this role, so someone with a good eye for detail and experience of drafting employee letters, contracts and communications with a strong focus on accuracy and confidentiality 
  • Work on projects where there is alignment of personal and business goals 

Salary: £40k - £45k FTE depending on experience, plus benefits, pro-rated per annum for 4 days per week

Requirements

Technical 

  • HR Generalist with at least 3 years’ experience and CIPD qualified to level 5 (or equivalent) .This may be a step up in your HR experience but you will have a strong background in delivering best practice HR support and advice combined with a pragmatic approach to problem solving. 
  • Track record in managing end to end recruitment and talent acquisition processes 
  • Experience in performance management and helping to define and communicate career pathways 
  • Experience or an interest in Internal Communications and its role in bringing to life the EVP. 
  • You’ll be personable and credible with strong communication and relationship building capabilities - excellent interpersonal skills and being a team player are absolute musts, as you will work with people at all levels across the business.   
  • Effective organisation skills are important, as well attention to detail and a proactive approach to your work  
  • Experience of using IT and HR systems.  Supporting with shaping content and delivering HR related workshops  
  • Knowledge and interest in the broad HR landscape and building a network to gather benchmarks would be ideal.

  • Questioning mindset and proactive problem solving approach demonstrating evidence of a desire to enhance / make improvements  
  • Experience of working in a small organisation with a willingness to roll up sleeves and help with any matter to drive the success of the Association  
  • ‘Can do’ attitude that contributes to a supportive and results driven team inspiring the same in others.
