As an Assistant Underwriter you will provide underwriting, operational, analytical and transaction support to the Transaction Liability underwriting team.

About the role
You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting underwriters throughout the entire transaction process, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of underwriting. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with broker partners, building valuable market knowledge and directly influencing the success of the transaction liability quoting function.
Your day-to-day will be varied and stimulating, from assisting with policy drafting and due diligence reviews to ensuring transactions progress smoothly from initial submission to policy binding. You’ll also review and refine key transaction documents, liaise with external legal counsel, and develop strong professional relationships with M&A insurance brokers, lawyers, private equity firms, and internal colleagues.
Additionally, you’ll analyze CFC’s M&A insurance portfolio, contribute insights that shape business decisions, and help manage workflow and reporting on our internal underwriting system.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with a commercial awareness of mergers and acquisitions and a background in law, business, finance, or a related field.
We'll be looking for strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with accuracy and efficiency. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the role involves working closely with underwriters, broker partners, legal counsel, and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Fluency in Spanish and English is essential, additional European language skills are of benefit but are not a prerequisite.
