What will you do as a PMC Pharmacist

The Pharmacist on duty is responsible for daily operations of the pharmacy including staff management, inventory management, filling prescriptions, and claims processing during the absence of the Pharmacist Manager.  This includes interaction with patients and clinical and support staff. The Pharmacist on duty assures appropriate and accurate dispensing of prescribed medications and maintenance of appropriate records and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.


 

A day in the life of a PMC Pharmacist may include:

  • Assures accurate and safe dispensing of medications including filling, refilling prescriptions and checking technician work.
  • Evaluates prescription orders for accuracy, incompatibilities, and appropriateness.
  • Maintains medications and workspace in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Maintains inventory and supplies by ensuring and adjusting appropriate inventory and reorder levels. Includes adding new medications as demand requires and updating/adding shelf labels.
  • Maintains knowledge of pharmaceutical information, drug information references, terminology and abbreviations to successfully interpret and process and compound prescriptions accurately and evaluate for incompatibilities and interactions.
  • Assures verification, accurate input, and discrepancy resolution of insurance issues including conferring with insurance carriers and processors.
  • Maintains knowledge with POS (Point of Sale) utilities including OTC item ordering and inventory maintenance.
  • Reports computer/technical issues appropriately
  • Assures cash register reconciliation and deposit preparation.
  • Participates in prescription transfers appropriately transcribing information accurately.
  • Follows Pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and regulations relating to pharmacy practice and assures compliance
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Current licensure in NC as a Registered Pharmacist

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years’ experience as pharmacist, preferred 
  • Retail experience, with  knowledge of pharmacy insurance desired
  • Knowledge of Allscripts EMR pharmacy computer systems preferred.


Shift: Day Shift (Monday through Friday) no weekends or holidays
Pay Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
