Highly skilled and motivated, advanced experience in prosthodontics, restorative and surgical chairside assisting, with specialty treatment coordination. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about optimizing patient care and clinical efficiency. The EDDA will play a critical role in supporting the entirety of the dental department. Including departmental management, complex restorative and surgical procedures, managing clinical flow, and contributing to the overall success of the dental team through proactive communication and schedule optimization.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Current EDDA certification in the state of [Insert State]. · Minimum 3 years of dental assisting experience, with at least 1 year in prosthodontics or surgical specialties. · CPR/BLS certification required. · Radiology certification required. · Knowledge of OSHA and infection control standards. · Dental insurance experience preferred
SKILL SETS:
· Strong understanding of removable and fixed prosthetics, including denture workflows and implant-supported restorations. · Experience assisting during oral surgery and specialty cases. · Proficiency in dental software · Demonstrated ability to track and support treatment plan completion. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in recovery-informed environments. · Highly organized with a proactive approach to schedule management and interdepartmental collaboration.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
Fast-paced, mission-driven clinic predominantly serving IH clients, Medicaid, uninsured, and vulnerable populations. May include mobile dental unit or school-based care delivery as we scale. · Ability to stand, sit, and assist for extended periods. · Manual dexterity to handle instruments and materials. · Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
· Assist chairside during general dentistry, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures including extractions and full-mouth rehabilitations. · Support treatment plan execution by tracking progress, preparing for upcoming phases, and ensuring timely follow-through. · Fabricate and adjust provisional crowns, bridges, and removable prosthetics under dentist supervision. · Take accurate scan impressions, digital imaging and manage lab case coordination. · Prepare operatories procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are ready and sterilized. · Collaborate with providers, recovery staff, and administrative teams to align dental care with patient recovery milestones. · Optimize daily schedules to reduce patient wait times and maximize provider efficiency. · Communicate with patients about treatment expectations, post-op care, and oral hygiene in a trauma-informed, recovery-supportive manner. · Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). · Monitor inventory and own ordering supplies being a steward of funds.
