SUMMARY: The Lighthouse Facility Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the health, safety, and functionality of the organization’s facilities. This working manager position ensures that building systems and infrastructure support the organization’s mission and operations. The Facility Manager collaborates closely with the Maintenance & Repair Manager, Safety & Quality Assurance Manager and other senior leaders to coordinate facility needs and ensure a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for all staff and visitors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Facility Manager will be responsible for the following core job duties:
- Facility Operations & Maintenance: Oversee daily operations of building infrastructure and systems of all Lighthouse locations to include: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, housekeeping, grounds care, and fire safety. Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal facility performance. Respond to facility emergencies and service requests promptly. Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment related to facility operations. Communicate with property management, as needed, to address facility issues for leased offices.
- Safety & Compliance: Partner with the Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to support a safe work environment for all employees. Prioritize compliance with OSHA, ADA, NFPA, and other relevant health and safety regulations by ensuring all facilities and systems are up to code. Develop and implement emergency response plans and safety protocols.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with service providers for utilities, janitorial, landscaping, pest control, and other facility-related services. Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements.
- Budget & Planning: Assist in developing and managing the facilities budget, including forecasting and cost control. Recommend capital improvement and facility upgrades aligned with organizational goals. Suggest and apply cost saving ideas and principles whenever possible.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work in partnership with the MRM to coordinate shared resources and support. Communicate effectively with staff across departments to address facility-related needs. Serve as a member of the Lighthouse Safety Committee and Emergency On-Call Team. Represent the Lighthouse with polish and professionalism when communicating with vendors and contractors.
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or related field preferred.
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong knowledge of facility systems to include electrical, plumbing, internet, HVAC, and security. Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years managing facility operations, vendor contracts, and building maintenance. Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Supervisory Responsibility: Oversight of staff, volunteers, and contractors designated to facility maintenance, operational systems or special projects. Responsible for addressing complaints and problem-solving issues related to facility operations.
- Physical: Able to lift 60 lbs., bend, stoop, climb, and walk frequently throughout the day. Able to travel throughout the facility and respond to emergencies.
- Personality: Dependable, proactive, detail-oriented, collaborative, self-directed, and professional.
- Working Conditions: Inside and outside facility environments to include manufacturing facility, grounds, and multiple office locations. Valid driver’s license and clear driving record required with valid Louisiana insurance coverage.
- Work Schedule: Full time, Exempt. Occasional on-call responsibilities.
- Background Check and Drug Testing required: Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.
