Leads, directs and supervises assigned personnel. Provides training to staff, audits Contract Health Services (CHS) payable documents and ensures compliance with established guidelines. Creates a variety of correspondence, logs, forms and reports and provides related clerical support for the assigned department. Processes requests for information as received. Utilizes the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) to research claim information and to process workflow within the department. Works with the Manager to establish checks and balances and is responsible for tracking the work of the assigned personnel.
Job Duties:
Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Leads, directs, and supervises assigned CHS personnel. Analyzes CHS processes and makes recommendations to enhance the program. Implements processes and coordinates the workflow of CHS. Serves as a principal to the Manager, Contract Health on the payables aspects of the CHS process. Provides training and technical assistance to the CHS staff. Reviews and revises standard operating procedures. Performs quality control activities by examining samples of CHS payment records. Assures guidelines are followed for processing payment documents. Implements processes for maintaining vendor records. Assures that vendor needs are met in a timely and professional manner. Performs supervisory duties in accordance with Human Resources Policies and Procedures and any other applicable rules, regulations and guidelines. Handles CHS patient complaints by gathering information, analyzing situation, making determination, and implementing results. Coordinates, designs and delegates activities and functions to appropriate staff. Provides direction to subordinate management and staff in matters of departmental operations. Prepares and processes Employee Action Notices, Purchase Requisitions and Check Requests. Monitors time and attendance records of assigned staff. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 5-20 employees in Contract Health. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year college or university; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional three (3) years in a related field is required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to operate computers and other standard office equipment. Must have experience in ICD-9 coding, medical terminology and Resources Patient Management Systems (RPMS).
