Overview

A respected acute care hospital in the Fredericksburg region is seeking an experienced RN Manager for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to oversee operations for the pre-admission testing, same-day surgery, PACU, and endoscopy areas. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for an experienced perioperative nurse who values patient-centered care, staff development, and operational excellence.

The RN Manager will lead a high-performing perioperative team in a growing regional hospital, ensuring consistent standards of care and supporting a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour management oversight of Pre-Op, PACU, PAT, and Endoscopy units

• Manage daily operations, schedules, staffing, and patient flow

• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards

• Oversee staff development, performance evaluations, and competency assessments

• Monitor productivity and manage labor and supply costs

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize surgical throughput

• Lead performance improvement, process optimization, and environment-of-care initiatives

• Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards

• Analyze data to support decision-making and departmental growth strategies

Qualifications

Required:

• Active RN license in Virginia (or Compact state)

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Minimum 2 years of recent perioperative or PACU experience

Preferred:

• BSN required; MSN or advanced degree preferred

• Prior leadership or charge experience in perioperative services

• Current BLS (required); ACLS and PALS (preferred)
