Position Summary:

The Technology Delivery Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery work for a software engineering team. This individual will manage the intake, scoping, technical work breakdown, and delivery of technical initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, agile methodologies, and cross-functional team coordination.

The Technical Delivery Manager is responsible for articulating and identifying specific solutions to drive necessary business outcomes and translating the overall vision for the product into actionable plans. This highly collaborative role works closely with stakeholders, end users, and functional and technical team members to rapidly deliver quality solutions to customers.

The Technical Delivery Manager is also a business relationship manager, growing solid and committed relationships with business stakeholders across the organization, understanding their strategic priorities and initiatives, and building a collaborative balance between business objectives and product architecture and roadmap[s].

 

Expected Compensation Range: $140,000 -$160,000 USD annualized. Exact rate determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Work Location: Hybrid - St. Paul, MN

Position Responsibility: 

  • Manage the work for software engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the manager of technical delivery, facilitating the intake process, defining scope, and prioritizing work based on business value and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with product owner[s] to strategically enable business initiatives and strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical team members to gather requirements, define user stories, and maintain a well-groomed product backlog.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives in partnership with team leads.
  • Act as a liaison between digital underwriting, distribution and content management business owners and IT to ensure work is aligned with strategy and prioritized based on business impact.
  • Work with the technology team leads to understand the software engineering roadmap and ensure compatibility between project needs and capability maturation.
  • Partner closely with multi-channel Product Owners to understand business needs and align them with technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of software solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Monitor team performance, remove blockers, and drive resolution of issues that impact delivery.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Champion agile best practices and support the evolution of delivery processes and tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Required Education and Experience:

  • 5-8+ years of experience in software development or technical project management.
  • Proven experience managing software engineering teams at the workstream or cross-workstream level to deliver complex technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience acting as a Product Owner, senior Scrum Master, or Release Train Engineer.
  • Excellent communication, strong organization, and effective stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and actionable plans.
  • Successful experience in matrix organization environments – shared goals; shared staff.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and independently managing multiple initiatives.

  • Basic understanding of internet and digital media technologies, platforms and/or practices.
  • Demonstrated success in technology implementation, technology development projects.
  • Proven high degree of integrity, ethical decision-making and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to embody and reflect the values of American Public Media Group.
  • Attention to detail and a demonstrated success meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to bridge departments by building consensus in approach and accomplishment of common goals in a manner which is best for the organization.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of radio production and distribution strategies and the public radio system.

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Experience in media, public broadcasting, or nonprofit environments.
    • Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, GitHub, and associated CI/CD practices.
    • Certification in Agile (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) or PMP is a plus.
