| General Summary: |
| Under general supervision, Multilingual learners in academic and social skills to ensure that individual student needs, interests and abilities are met. Assists in other school programs as assigned. |
| Essential Functions: |
- Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One.
- Effectively interacts, communicates and collaborates with students, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders to foster student learning.
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive learning environment for all students; supervises students in classroom activities and in other areas as assigned; maintains positive behavior support and classroom management systems.
- Demonstrates a variety of 21st century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers, including the integration of educational technology and digital resources to enhance language instruction.
- Designs and facilitates engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications aimed at advancing English language proficiency through a content-based instructional approach.
- Develops Individualized Language Acquisition Plans based on each student's English language proficiency level that includes appropriate language goals.
- Teaches concepts, strategies, and skills that facilitate English language acquisition and contribute to students’ academic and personal development.
- Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers concerning appropriate accommodations; maintains documentation of communication and collaboration with classroom teachers.
- Assists classroom teachers by modifying instructional tasks and/or assessments as appropriate.
- Assesses student learning through formative and summative evaluations, monitors progress, recommends interventions as necessary, documents assessments, and evaluates group project contributions when applicable.
- Assists school personnel in providing professional learning experiences for parents, teachers and staff.
- Facilitates effective communication between school personnel and parents, including coordinating translation and interpretation services according to district procedures as needed.
- Collaborates with school and district personnel to evaluate effectiveness of curriculum and make suggestions for improvement.
- Collaborates with school staff to ensure equitable and appropriate scheduling for students in the ML program in accordance with district and state policies and procedures..
- Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, discipline reports, etc.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Organizes classrooms and other settings for daily instruction.
- Selects, requests and maintains an inventory of instructional aides, technology tools, equipment, and supplies needed for daily activities; provides for safe storage and proper use of all materials, equipment and tools.
- Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
- Meets with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, social and emotional needs, behavior, and personal and academic goals and expectations, etc.; issues reports in accordance with school board policy to inform parents/guardians of students’ progress.
- Assists the school administration in preparing and planning for the state-required annual English language proficiency assessment.
- Administers the state-required placement and annual English language proficiency assessments, following district and state test administration procedures..
- Performs other related duties as required.

| Minimum Education/Work Experience: |
- Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or related area of discipline with previous student teaching experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Valid South Carolina teaching certification; specific certification in teaching English as a second language

| Working Conditions: |
| Conducts duties in classrooms and other instructional environments with no significant exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires constant attention working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring occasional lifting/moving of items up to twenty-five pounds; Occasional travel is required; limited overnight travel required. |
| Responsibility: |
| Responsible for supervision of students in classrooms, field studies and other instructional settings. Responsible for classroom materials and supplies budget (if applicable). Responsible for maintenance and inventory of equipment; responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions and safety issues. |
| Evaluation: |
| Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the school board’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel. |
