Summary:

This position performs diagnostic testing for cardiovascularprocedures at both MyMichigan Medical Center-Clare and Gladwin. Provides patient and staff education. Assists in development andmonitoring of QA/QI programs. Assists in thedevelopment/maintaining department protocols.

Responsibilities:

Conducts diagnostic nursing procedures according to departmentprotocol. Transesophogeal echocardiogram Stress echocardiogramRoutine treadmill exam Sestamibi stress and pharmacologic stress testing Tilt Table Testing Administration of contrast in TCDs and/or echocardiograms (NS/DEFINITY) Assists with psuedoaneurysm injections Assists with starting IVs and inserting urinary catheters in the imaging services department. (25%)*Provides education sessions/Inservices to staff and patients (formal and informal). (25%)*Develops, reviews, and enhances cardiovascular education materialsand programs. (25%)*Develops and monitors QA/QI program.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees/maintains use and function of nursing equipment (crashcart, IVACs, 02, defibrillators , Datascopes, Accu-Chek, andnursing supplies (TEE/IV etc.)). Coordinates procedures with other departments. Keeps updated on the flow of the department by checking on alldiagnostic studies being done in and out of the department thatrequire the presence of the CVS RN. Certifications and Licensures:

ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Required Equivalent Experience - Within 1 month of hire or transfer

 

BLS - Basic Life Support Required Equivalent Experience - Within 1 month of hire or transfer

 

RN - Registered Nurse Required Equivalent Experience

Other Information:

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Knowledge of critical nursing as normally acquired through 1-yearexperience working in a medical center or similar setting. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully withindividuals and groups. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing as required Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training mustalso be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving publiccontact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latexmaterials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisteddevice and must be able to perform the functions of the job asoutlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisteddevice(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. Mayrequire frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling orcrouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentiallyinfectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, workindependently, regular and predictable attendance and ability tostay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching,grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of thesemovements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% orthe workday) 10 lbs.
