About the role
Are you ready to shape the way RWE navigates the complex grid landscape in the UK and Ireland?

As a Senior Transmission Analyst, you’ll be at the forefront of providing deep-dive analyses on all grid-related topics that matter commercially to our business and project development. You’ll work within a dynamic, cross-country team that thrives on combining technical mastery with commercial acumen, collaborating closely with colleagues across Business Development, Project Engineering and Regulatory Affairs.

Our team is still establishing its footprint within the organisation, giving you the chance to make your mark and actively influence how we work. Here, your work will bridge strategic vision and practical delivery - giving you both high visibility and concrete impact.

  • Bring expert knowledge of the UK and Irish power transmission and distribution systems, such as network charges, grid connections, expansion, and curtailment risks.
  • Integrate technical and commercial perspectives to guide our understanding of power system operation and evolving regulatory and technological trends.
  • Collaborate across Commercial, Development, and Engineering teams to unlock grid-related business opportunities and protect against revenue and cost risks.
  • Conduct power flow and congestion studies using in-house tools and external consultants, and provide grid insights for project valuation and long-term market modelling.
  • Gather, develop, and share expertise within multi-disciplinary teams, presenting findings to a diverse array of working groups and (senior) management.
  • Support stakeholder engagement processes and work with Regulatory Affairs to ensure that grid-related advocacy aligns with business objectives.

Job requirements and experience

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline), with a minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience.
  • Deep knowledge of power grid planning, development, or project interconnection - including UK/Irish regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven hands-on experience in power flow simulations (e.g. DigSilent or similar software), especially for curtailment studies.
  • Practical understanding of power system operation, economics, and energy markets.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills - able to communicate complex technical info clearly to both technical and business audiences, including (senior) management.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and quick to identify value-creating opportunities and solutions.
  • Professional fluency in English.
  • Strong team player instinct, openness to new ideas, and the collaborative spirit to help a growing team thrive.

Advantageous, but not essential

  • Practical experience working with UK and/or Irish grid operators, consultants, associations, regulators, or strong network in the field.
  • Scripting ability in DPL, Python, or similar for advanced power flow modelling.
  • Familiarity with regulation or market design in other European countries or at EU-level.
  • Knowledge of generation economics, especially renewables.
  • Additional German or other European language skills.

What we value most is someone who continuously demonstrates courage, thrives to create impact and seeks to build trusting, collaborative relationships. So, even if you think you do not yet display all of the skills listed above we would still like to hear from you.

Further we welcome applications from individuals who may not be able to commit to full-time roles. At RWEST, finding the right person for the job is our top priority, and we are willing to explore flexible arrangements.
