Position Summary

The EDM Operator / Programmer is a skilled technical role responsible for programming, setup, and operation of advanced Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) in a high-precision aerospace manufacturing environment. This position requires expertise in EDM processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while meeting stringent quality and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

EDM Programming & Operation:

- Program and operate AA EDM hole drilling machines and Makino sinker EDM machines.

- Interpret blueprints and GD&T requirements with tolerances as tight as ±0.0002".

- Develop efficient EDM programs using machine controls.

- Select appropriate electrodes, tooling, and fixturing for various aerospace materials (e.g., Inconel, Waspaloy, Hastelloy X).

- Perform in-process inspections and verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments.

- Complete setups efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Quality & Compliance:

- Follow AS9100 quality standards and internal procedures.

- Document setups, programs, and inspection results accurately.

- Support continuous improvement initiatives for EDM process optimization.

Collaboration:

- Work closely with programmers and quality inspectors to resolve technical issues.

- Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

- Experience: Minimum 3+ years in EDM operations and programming, preferably in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in EDM hole drilling and sinker EDM; familiarity with Makino controls and AA EDM systems.

- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GD&T and tight tolerance machining.

- Certifications: AS9100 familiarity preferred.
