About the Role:
Are you an experienced Health and Safety professional seeking a site-based residential role that gets you home every night?
You have the opportunity to join our WA Mining H&S team as a Health & Safety Advisor, ready to make a significant impact at our Huntly Mine Site location. Please note the location is residential (Dwellingup/Pinjarra region)—you must be comfortable commuting daily. You will work days only, completing an 8-hour shift.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, you will be the key driver in reducing risk and improving safety performance within the fixed plant maintenance team.
You will provide comprehensive Health & Safety support, technical advice, and crucial coaching across the Fixed Plant department. Specifically, you will:
Develop robust risk mitigation plans to manage health and safety around high-risk activities such as Confined Space Entry, Hazardous Chemicals and Substances, Electrical, and Trenching and Excavation.
Conduct audits to ensure full compliance with both company policy and relevant legislation.
Investigate incidents using the ICAM process, establishing corrective actions that focus on engineering and higher-level controls.
Create and deliver engaging training programs that will drive positive safety improvements.
Lead teams on various safety projects and initiatives, becoming a key part of a dynamic team focused on transforming Alcoa's safety culture.
Advise and support health and safety committees and representatives in Fixed Plant operations.

What you can bring to the role:
Tertiary qualification (desirable) or Diploma in the Health and Safety field or related subject area
Strong Health & Safety related experience, ideally in a fixed plant or maintenance environment.
Knowledge and application of legislative standards to ensure Alcoa’s compliance to H&S requirements
Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with people at all levels, leading by example and taking initiative.
Contractor experience is desirable
Proficient in utilising Microsoft suite and various incidental management systems.

About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
