Job Summary:
An Industrial Engineer – Manufacturing Process Owner is a team leader responsible for the processes surrounding daily production of products. They coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve technical and product specific manufacturing issues that arise and continuously improve production processes and the quality of the products produced.
Responsibilities:
- Document and maintain the manufacturing processes
- Document and maintain process suppliers and input requirements
- Document and maintain process customers and output requirements
- Work with suppliers and customers to ensure processes are effective
- Monitor performance of daily production operations within the division
- Work with the Quality team to reduce failures by ensuring finished products are of prescribed specifications and quality
- Ensure quality control systems are implemented effectively in manufacturing
- Monitor the Sales Order process and its interaction with the Manufacturing processes to facilitate on-time order fulfillment
- Confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve any production issues
- Ensure that materials, labor, and equipment are used efficiently
- Review plans for new products or processes and make recommendations
- Recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification
- Coordinate projects and drive them to completion
- Support and enforce consensus management decisions
- Work with Safety Staff to ensure adherence to safety regulations
- Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff and resolve personnel grievances
- Maintain production reports or personnel records
- Prepare and present reports as needed
- Perform other operation duties as assigned
Requirements
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing, production and process techniques
- Excellent planning and strong problem-solving skills
- Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other data analytics tools
- Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Visio or other process mapping tools
- Experience with Infor Syteline (Cloud Suite Industrial) a plus
- Able to efficiently manage time and resources
- Able to make decisions, prioritize between tasks and delegate
- Basic understanding and ability to read prints and schematics
- Basic understanding of electro-mechanical product design
- Basic skillset of electronics manufacturing
- Basic electronics troubleshooting skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflicts
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Able to communicate effectively with customers if needed
- Able to lead large projects and motivate staff
- Able to work in a process-centered team environment
- Independent and self-motivated
- Strong technical writing skills
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in industrial production preferred
- 3+ years of supervisory experience (required)
- Experience in industrial automation and manufacturing of electro-mechanical devices preferred
- Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or equivalent work experience, or bachelor's degree in related business field with Industrial Automation work experience a plus
- Coursework in Design for Manufacturability a plus
- Certification in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing training a plus
