The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is hiring a Program Director VI for our Jail Forensics team.

 

The Program Director VI - Forensics works collaboratively with other management and clinical staff in the Adult Forensic Unit at the Harris County Jail and other inter/intra agency personnel. The Program Director performs administrative duties involving day to day operations of the unit, training, and supervision of the work performance of designated clinical staff. Other responsibilities include planning, organizing and conducting multidisciplinary team meetings in collaboration with clinical staff and/or other interagency personnel; ensuring proper staff coverage; and carrying out program unit goals and objectives. S/he may provide clinical services to consumers at assigned work site. This position requires travel, flexible hours, and provides coverage in the absence of the Sr. Director of Forensics.

 

Your role in Action:

  • Provides supervision to designated unit staff to facilitate optimal supervision in the performance of job 
    duties/activities (includes individual, chart reviews, coaching, etc.)
  • Evaluates work performance of staff supervised and institutes written disciplinary actions for substandard performance when needed in collaboration with the Mental Health Administrator.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, LPHAs, psychologists and case managers in providing consultation to clinical staff to facilitate continuity and effective clinical care delivery.
  • Provides ongoing consultation for staff in the jail units regarding procedures, resources, clinical and personnel issues.
  • Participates in patient care monitoring to review the quality of clinical care.
  • Participates in unit audits and completing plans of improvement in conjunction with the Mental Health Administrator.
  • Provides clinical coverage as needed for supervised staff and arranges for coverage to ensure continuity of services.
  • Responsible for compliance with contract and agency mandatory training requirements and ensures job related training needs are met.
  • Participates in the hiring and termination process of supervised staff as assigned by the Mental Health Administrator.
  • Manages the workflow of the day-to-day operations of the unit. 
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned by Mental Health Administrator or Assistant Deputy Director in the absence of the Mental Health Administrator.
  • Complies with The HARRIS CENTER and Harris County Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies and performance contract documentation requirements.
  • Communicates and works with consumer/visitors/other staff in a manner that demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversities.
  • Performs related work as assigned. Adapts to changing work requirements

 

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent.
  • LPC, or LMFT, or LCSW required.

 

·    Experience Required: Must have 7 years' experience working in a mental health setting. Previous supervisory experience required. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have basic knowledge of principles of the development, implementation and documentation of individualized care and treatment for a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
  • Maintains current licensure/credentials with appropriate state licensure regulatory board.
  • Ability to effectively lead others.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively converse and listen to others and construct clear and concise written communication.
  • Ability to identify and offer solutions to resolve problems, using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to utilize basic Word and Excel documents.
