JOB SUMMARY

The Intern, under the collaborative academic-employer partnership, performs specific student nursing tasks to meet clinical objectives in delivering patient care directed and supervised by a designated Registered Nurse preceptor. The Intern will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. The Intern will demonstrate understanding of the unique physical and psychological needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and possess the ability to assess date reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information necessary to provide quality care under the direction of designated Registered Nurse Preceptor. Utilization of Interns will not have an impact on staffing. Interns cannot be utilized to perform job functions outside of the student nurse role during the duration of the academic-employer partnership.

JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

- Currently enrolled as a senior nursing student in the final semester of a BSN or ADN program and scheduled to graduate at the end of the semester- required
- Will have a satisfactory academic record- required
- High School Diploma- required  
 

License/Certifications:

- BLS certification- required

Experience:

- Must be accepted into the academic-employer partnership as offered by the educational institution. Must meet current theory and clinical benchmarks to be in good academic standing with educational institution.
