Job Summary: The Warehouse Worker I performs various duties and processes which facilitate efficiency and effectiveness in the warehouse.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Tracks shipments and receives, processes, stores, and distributes material, and products within establishments. Inspects products for damages and reports as needed.
- Reads production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas by hand, hand truck, electric hand truck or Forklift.
- Always maintains safety standards, including required daily maintenance checks when using forklifts.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment, wears proper safety equipment and ensures all safety requirements are upheld.
- Sorts and places materials or items, according to BOMs, requisitions, orders and other official documentation.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, or other items and prepares them for distribution and/or shipment.
- Assists with maintaining inventory controls both, within warehouse and incoming/receiving records.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Skills Required:
- Attention to detail and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Forklift Certificate or willingness and ability to become certified.
- Basic mathematics and computer skills.
- Can work with minimal supervision and be a team player.
- Able to work overtime as needed.
Education and Experience:
- 0-5 years prior warehouse experience.
- Familiar with warehouse processes, procedures and equipment.
- HS diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent combo of experience & education.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally lift 50 lbs. and regularly lift up to 30lbs or use mechanical assistance.
- Handle tasks involving frequent bending, twisting, lifting, squatting, walking, and standing.
- Must be able to use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.
- Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time.
