The Maritime Operations & Quality Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of strategic client accounts, coordination of port operations, and enforcement of quality control standards. This role requires direct oversight of vessel activities during port calls, active relationship management with key clients, and implementation of quality assurance protocols in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

 

The position involves frequent coordination with vessel crews, terminal operators, port authorities, and internal departments to ensure smooth operational execution, timely service delivery, and high customer satisfaction. The role also includes the responsibility of identifying operational risks, conducting inspections and audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across service delivery and compliance areas.

 

This is a hybrid operational and client-facing role requiring a high level of technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills within a fast-paced maritime environment.

 

 

Specific Essential Job Duties

Key Account Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring timely communication and relationship development.
  • Understand client needs and develop tailored solutions to exceed service expectations.
  • Handle contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and renewals in alignment with company policies.
  • Monitor service performance and proactively resolve any issues impacting client satisfaction.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Port Captain Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate all vessel operations in port, including berthing, loading, unloading, bunkering, and cargo handling.
  • Act as liaison between vessel crew, port authorities, agents, and terminal operators to ensure timely turnaround.
  • Conduct onboard inspections to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Provide operational support and guidance to vessel masters and crew, particularly during critical port operations.
  • Review voyage performance and provide recommendations for operational improvements.

Quality Control

  • Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes related to cargo handling, documentation, and maritime safety standards.
  • Monitor compliance with company SOPs, client specifications, and relevant ISO or maritime regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across operations.
  • Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and non-conformities; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in quality and operational standards.
