Wood is recruiting for motivated and safety-conscious Trainee Operators to join our team supporting Esso’s oil and gas production facilities in Longford. This is a unique opportunity with full training provided and exposure to world-class operational standards. As a Trainee Operator, you’ll be trained to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians and develop the skills needed to manage process risks, support maintenance activities, and uphold environmental and safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of unit operations, control schemes, and safe operating limits
- Learn to identify process and environmental hazards and apply safeguards to prevent or mitigate risks
- Comply with safe work practices including Permit to Work, equipment isolations (Lock-Out/Tag-Out), management of change, and procedural adherence
- Conduct routine surveillance and sampling rounds with a focus on operational excellence and safety
- Assist in preparing equipment for maintenance and returning it to service safely
- Gain experience in both field and console operations to support and improve unit performance
- Understand and participate in emergency response procedures across various scenarios
- Monitor equipment performance, identify unusual operations, and support troubleshooting and optimization
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Eager to learn and grow in a technical, high-performance environment
- Process and/or mechanically minded, or interested in industrial operations
- Able to follow procedures and work effectively under pressure
- Willing to work in a dynamic, shift-based environment
- Able to show initiative and take ownership of work
- Certificate III in process operations preferred but not essential
- Process operations experience - desirable
